DasKeyboard

So I just got my new Das Keyboard in the mail today. Took an entire week of anxiously waiting to feel the new keyboard but the shipping was free so I can't complain too much. Having used the original DasKeyboard exclusively for the last 2 years I expected nothing but pure joy out of the new DasKeyboard Ultimate. The fact that they made the switch to the mechanical switches makes such a huge difference.

Typing on the original DK already felt amazing due to the keys requiring more or less pressure to push down depending on what finger is used to hit what key. But the new audio feedback provided by the upgrade to mechanical key switches very similar to those found in old IBM keyboards of the 80's and early 90's adds a whole new distinction in the world of keyboards. Not only do you fingers flow even more naturally over the keyboard due to the different pressured keys but the KNOWING I hit that feature of the click makes such a huge difference.

It looks like it came out of Darth Vader's command room. All black, still completely blank (not a single marking anywhere on the board except for the logo) and the surface of the board has a new glossy texture and look to it. New blue LED's for the CAPS NUM and Scroll lock indicators add a really nice touch. Not to mention they are now actual lit up icons letting any novice know what light means what.

If you want to improve your typing speed and get over the crutch of looking at the keys while doing so, this is by far the best piece of hardware you could ever invest in. Whenever I have guests over and they try and use my computer they always suffer with it. Rather week but it kind of doubles as a mini security system at the same time. Friend Ian who's far more tech savvy than me couldn't even input his own password using my keyboard. I couldn't help but laugh at him as he struggled over and over.

Ok now I'm just rambling on but I really don't want to stop typing on this amazing keyboard. It really does just feel that good. The sound brings back such a feeling of nostalgia it's hard to want to stop.
